How to Initiate a Return

  1. Complete the Form: You’ll need your order number (you can find it in your original purchase email). Can’t find it? No worries—just shoot us an email at support@stardateco.com.au and we’ll help you out!
  2. Ship It Back: After you’ve submitted the form, we’ll send you an email with all the details on how to return your items in their original packaging. Don’t forget to hang on to your proof of postage, just in case.

Refund or Store Credit: Once we’ve received and checked over your items, we’ll process your refund or exchange within 48 hours (Monday to Friday). Depending on your payment method and bank, refunds usually take up to 14 days to appear.

Which full-sized products qualify for this reimbursement?

You can choose any full-sized 180g or 380g Zodiac Birthday or Star Sign Compatibility Candle, or our 200mL Zodiac Birthday Diffuser. Just make sure it’s in the same fragrance as your Miniature Candle, and you’re good to go!

What if I buy more than one Miniature Candle? Can I get reimbursed for all of them?

Yes! This offer applies to each individual Miniature Candle and its matching full-sized fragrance. So if you buy a couple of Miniatures in different scents and later purchase full-sized versions of each scent, you’ll get reimbursed for each one on a one-for-one basis.

Can I buy the full-sized product first and then a Miniature Candle?

Great question! This offer only works one way: you’ll need to start with a Miniature Candle and then purchase the full-sized version of the same fragrance within 30 days to qualify for reimbursement.

If, however, you purchase a full-sized item in one fragrance and then buy a Miniature Candle in a different fragrance to test out, that Miniature Candle will still be eligible for reimbursement as long as your next full-sized purchase matches the fragrance of your Miniature Candle.

When will I get my reimbursement?

After you place your order for the full-sized candle or diffuser, we’ll automatically apply the reimbursement once it ships. You can choose to receive it as a refund to your original payment method or as store credit. We'll reach out via email directly so you can let us know your preference.

Are there any exclusions?

Yes, this offer doesn’t apply to gift packs, bundles, free or gifted items.

It’s also limited to one reimbursement per Miniature Candle fragrance, per full-sized purchase or a candle or diffuser.

What if I want to return the full-sized product after getting the reimbursement?

If you decide to return the full-sized candle or diffuser due to damage or fault, that's fine.

Just know that we’ll deduct the amount of the Miniature Candle reimbursement from your final refund.

How do I make sure I qualify?

Stardate Candles

What are Stardate Candles made from?

Our Stardate Candles are hand-poured using an all-natural soy wax, fragrance oils and an all natural fibre wick for a beautiful clean burn.

You can also rinse, reuse or repurpose our premium glass jars as they make wonderful displays for bathroom goodies, flowers and even as a pencil holder on your desk.

What size are the candles?

We have the following sizes available:

  • 180g Zodiac Birthday Candle
  • 380g Zodiac Birthday Candle
  • 380g Star Sign Compatiblity Candle

180g Candles:

Capacity: Each candle is filled with 180g of soy-wax which allows it to have long, clean burn.

Burn Time: 25 - 30 hours

Dimensions: 9cm (d) x 10cm (h)

380g Candles:

Capacity: Each candle is filled with 380g of soy-wax which allows it to have long, clean burn.

Burn Time: 60-80 hours

Dimensions: 9cm (d) x 10cm (h)

The glass jar measurements are 10cm in height and 9cm in diameter making them the perfect size to display anywhere in your home or office.

How long will my candle last?

380g Candles:

Our Stardate Candles are designed to burn for 60-80 hours.

Be sure to trim your wicks before each burn and ensure that the first burn lasts for between 2-4 hours (until it reaches the edges of the glass) to ensure that it continues to burn evenly each time you light it. This will allow you to reach that higher end of the burn time range and get the most from your candles.

Where are Stardate candles made?

Our Stardate Candles are hand-poured in our studio in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Do you use fragrance oils or essential oils?

Stardate fragrance oils are synthetic in substance, in that they are not formulated directly from plant origin. Having said this, many of our fragrance oils do contain a high percentage of essential oils. 

Now, let's dive into why our fragrances are pretty fantastic:

  • All our scents follow the RIFM and IFRA standards, ensuring they're safe and pure.
  • These celestial scents are crafted right here in Australia.
  • Just so you know, we're all about compassion – none of our fragrances are tested on our furry friends. 🐾

Care Instructions

  • Keep wicks trimmed to 6mm to ensure you get a longer, cleaner burn.
  • Always burn on a suitable candle plate or similar surface.
  • Do not place candles on sensitive surfaces.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn on or near flammable, heat sensitive or porous surfaces.
  • Never move while burning.
  • Do not place on or near electrical appliances.
  • Keep away from external heat sources.
  • Do not burn for longer than 3 - 4 hours. (380g candles)
  • Keep wax pool free of foreign matter and wick debris.
  • Keep out of draughts.
  • Use only a candle snuffer to extinguish.
  • Discontinue use when wax reaches 1cm from the bottom.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Stardate Reed Diffusers

How long do Stardate Reed Diffusers last for?

Our Stardate Reed Diffusers are a generous size at 200mL, meaning that the minimum lifetime is at least 6+ months. However, this does depend on several factors such as temperature, air-conditioning, airflow, etc, within the environment in which they’re displayed. They are known to considerably exceed this timeframe.

How should I maintain my reed diffuser?

When first using your reed diffuser, allow the reeds to absorb the fragrance for 15 minutes, then gently rotate them to release the aroma. To enhance the fragrance in the air, flip (reverse) the reeds as often as desired.

How often should I flip the reeds?

The reed diffuser sticks can be flipped when you want an extra burst of fragrance or when you notice there is no scent. Some people choose to flip daily while others choose weekly. Be careful not to drip any as it can react with some surfaces. Be sure to clean any spillage immediately.

Are reed diffusers environmentally friendly?

All Stardate Reed Diffusers are environmentally friendly, long-lasting, and slow releasing. They are a safe way to scent a room with no open flame or hot wax. They can be classed as vegan-friendly as they are mostly made up of synthetic ingredients and are not tested on animals. Our diffuser base is non-toxic and our fragrance oils don't contain phthalates or parabens.

What materials are used for the reed diffusers?

Our Stardate Reed Diffusers are housed in a 200mL glass vessel with black hardware, featuring ten natural reeds and diffusing fragrance for 6+ months.

The 200 mL bottle design allows the perfume to be passively released through the naturally porous rattan reeds, filling your favourite room or office with our fine fragrance oils.

How to use your Stardate Reed Diffusers

  • Open the glass bottle by unscrewing the black lid and removing the plastic cap inserted in the neck of the glass that’s used as a liquid stopper. 
  • Screw the black lid back onto the neck of the diffuser.
  • Place all 10x reeds in the bottle.
  • Place bottle on a plate or similar to protect surfaces in case of spillage.
  • The fragrant blend will oxidise after the bottle has been opened.
  • The solution interacts with oxygen which can affect it’s colour, but not the quality of the fragrance or longevity of your reeds.

Care Instructions

  • Keep out of reach of Children.
  • Always place on a tray. 
  • Do not put reeds on a fragile or varnished surface.
  • Spills should be cleaned up immediately as staining or stripping of finishes may occur.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin. 
  • Do not ingest fragrance.
  • Keep away from naked flame or heat at all times.

Diffuser Safety

  • The liquid in a diffuser contains chemicals that surfaces and skin don’t like. Please find below our safety guidelines for when using a fragranced diffuser.
  • The diffuser liquid can cause irritation to the skin and may cause an allergic reaction. If the diffuser liquid does come into contact with skin, wash with plenty of soap and water. If irritation or a rash occurs, seek medical advice/ attention.
  • The diffuser liquid causes serious eye irritation – if diffuser liquid comes into contact with eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do and continue rinsing. If irritation persists, seek medical advice / attention.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • If diffuser liquid is spilt on a surface, thoroughly clean the liquid off. Ensure you wipe any residual diffuser liquid from the bottom of the vessel before placing on a level surface.
  • Always put your reed diffuser on a level surface.
  • Do not place the diffuser directly onto, or allow the reeds to touch polished, painted, leather or plastic surfaces, or electrical equipment as accidental spillage or liquid transfer may cause damage to certain materials.

Personalising your Stardate Products

How can I add a name to my candle or diffuser?

When viewing the product page for your selected candle birthdate, you will see a text box field on the page where you may enter the recipient's name.

Please enter it exactly how you'd like it appear on the candle. Most people opt for first name only but we can also include the last name.

Please note, only the first letter of the name will be capitalised and no special characters (i.e. emojis) can be included.

How do I personalise my custom gift card message?

You will be sent an email after your purchase to complete your gift wrap service personalisation options. You can include your personal message here and we will add it to your gift card.

Alternatively, there's a "note" section within your shopping cart where you can tell us your personal message. We see this and can add it from here.

I want a different fragrance, how do I change it?

Not your favourite fragrance? No worries! We want to ensure that your gift is exactly how you envision it. Visit our Fragrance page to see detailed descriptions of each scent.

To select an alternative, simply select your preferred scent option from the list on the specific candle or diffuser product page. If one isn't selected, the "Default" fragrance will be used.

Please note, this is only an option during the ordering process, not after you've received your candle.

Can I remove the weaknesses from my candle label?

Of course! We want to ensure that your candle is personalised to your liking. If you would like the weaknesses removed, please let us know by including a note in your cart that is sent through to us with your order or reach out to us directly at hello@stardateco.com.au so we can customise your order.

We replace the weaknesses with 3 additional strengths to coincide with the updated design. You can provide these strengths to us (because you know the recipient really well!) or we can add three more from their astrology reading.

Can I add a personal message to the candle or diffuser?

Of course! We have so many of our special stars requesting a "Happy 18th/21st/30th/40th/50th/605th Birthday" message on the candle and we're happy to accomodate.

We simply replace the section "The Day Of ..." with your "Happy 18th Birthday" message. This ensures the design isn't compromised and the recipients name remains clearly front and centre on the candle or diffuser.

'Tis the season for gift-giving and good cheer, and we’re here to make sure your Stardate products arrive just in time to light up the holidays. To help you out, we've put together the key dates for sending parcels, so your gifts make it under the tree in time.

Recommended Last Shipping Dates for Australia

For most Australian states (we're looking at you, everyone except Perth and Darwin), here are the deadlines to ensure your delivery arrives by Christmas:

  • Standard Post: Order by Wednesday, 18th December
  • Express Post: Order by by Sunday, 22nd December

Important note for our Perth and Darwin friends: For those far-flung destinations, Standard Post and Express Post items need to be ordered by Wednesday, 11th December to reach Santa’s sleigh in time.

How can I track my order?

We want to be in the loop with your exciting Stardate delivery! When you proceed through our checkout, please enter your email address to receive tracking notifications.

We'll send you a copy of your Australia Post tracking number once your item has been dispatched. You'll then be able to use this number via the Shop app or Australian Post website. 

Do you offer express shipping?

We sure do! If you're shopping for a last minute gift or want a special little something (Stardate Candle or Stardate Diffuser) for yourself and you just can't wait - you can opt for Express Shipping for expedited delivery Australia wide.

Where do you ship from?

All of our orders are dispatched from our office in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

What is FAST Dispatch?

Dispatch occurs 3x times per week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Ensure your orders are submitted before 12pm (AEST) on our dispatch days for same-day dispatch.

If your order is received after 12pm (AEST) on our dispatch days, your order will be shipping on the following dispatch day.

Please note, Australia Post does not deliver on weekends.

Returns & Exchanges

What do I do if I received the wrong candle?

We're so sorry! Please email us as soon as possible at support@stardateco.com.au with your order number (begins with #STAR) and your parcel tracking number. Please include a brief description and an image of the items that were actually sent to you and we'll ensure we fix your issue asap.

What happens if my candle arrives damaged?

We're so sorry! We endeavour to package our candles so they arrive at your door safe and intact, just as intended but sometimes things do happen while they're in transit.

If your Stardate Candle is damaged, please reach out to us within 14 days of receiving your order and provide us with your tracking number and an image of the broken item when you email support@stardateco.com.au and we'll work on getting you a new one.

Can I return my candle if I change my mind?

We have recently introduced our Stardate 30-Day Money Back Guarantee which is a program designed to help take the stress out of selecting the right fragrance for your Stardate items. Please view our dedicated guarantee page to find out more.

I ordered the wrong date/name, what can I do?

Oh no! We understand that these things happen sometimes so we like to work with our customers to fix this up. Here are are couple of options:

After item has been shipped:

1. We print and send you a new label

If you're happy with the fragrance but the label is incorrect, we can print and send you a new label to affix to the candle itself. There is an additional charge of $5 for this service to cover costs and postage.

2. You may exchange the candle

You can return the candle to us and we can send the updated candle to you. You will incur the costs of postage and materials for this service. Delivery costs vary depending on your location so reach out to us directly.

Before item has been shipped:

If you're item has been ordered but not shipped (prior to 12pm on our dispatch days, Monday, Wednesday and Friday) there is a good chance we can simply update your order with the correct details. Reach out and ask ASAP!

Can I cancel my order?

If you wish to cancel your Stardate order after it has been placed, please contact us at hello@stardateco.com.au or via our Contact page as soon as possible. We cannot cancel any orders that have been dispatched and shipped so you will incur the total costs of the candles delivered to you until you return the items provided they comply with our return policy.

Gift-Wrapping & Custom Gift Card

How do I get my candle or diffuser gift-wrapped?

Simply tick the "Add Gift Wrapping & Custom Gift Card" option on your candle or diffuser product page and this will be added to your cart.

You can also add this directly from your shopping cart, you will see an option to "Add Gift Wrapping" to your order.

Please note, Gift-Wrapping and Custom Gift Card product is at a cost per candle or per diffuser. If you have multiple candles and/or diffusers you would like gift-wrapped, please increase the quantity in your cart.

I ordered more than 1 item but only want 1 gift-wrapped, how do I select which one?

When you select "Add Gift Wrapping & Custom Gift Card" on the candle or diffuser product page, the gift-wrapping service will be directly attributed to that item, not any others in your order.

If you simply add "Gift Wrapping & Custom Gift Card" from within the cart, please message us by leaving a "Note" in your cart to tell us which item you'd like gift wrapped, or email us directly at hello@stardateco.com.au

Is the gift-wrapping price per item or for my entire order?

The price listed for Gift-Wrapping & Custom Card within the gift-wrapping item in the cart is per item.

What size is the custom gift card?

The custom gift card is 8cm wide by 5 cm high (when folded). We will endeavour to fit your entire message in the hand-written gift card. Don't worry! We have the neatest hand writing.

What wrapping materials are used?

Our Stardate Gift Wrapping Service ensures that your candles and diffusers are expertly wrapped in our Premium White Gloss Wrapping paper with our beautiful coloured satin ribbons, tied in a delightful bow. Your gift cards are slid in the top to make them easily accessible to both you and the gift-recipient.

How do I tell you what message to include in the gift card?

When you purchase our Gift Wrapping Service, you're automatically sent an email to complete a form detailing your Personalisation Preferences.

Here you'll be able to include your personal message and we will hand-write it in the card for you.

If you'd rather write the personal message yourself, that's totally fine! Simply write "Blank" in the field and we'll send you the blank card to complete at your convenience.

I opted out of SMS but I'm still receiving texts, what do I do?

We're so sorry! We take your unsubscribes very seriously and want to act on them as soon as possible to ensure you're only receiving the types of messages you want to receive.

While unsubscribing is typically an automated process, sometimes technical glitches happen so let us know if you're still receiving messages you don't want by emailing us at support@stardateco.com.au and we'll manually stop this from occuring.

Another reason may be that you mistakenly opted out of a List and didn't Unsubscribe from ALL text messages which can happen if there's any confusion about the Preferences set. This is also easily rectified by our amazing support team so please email us at support@stardateco.com.au confirming that you'd like to be UNSUBSCRIBED FROM ALL SMS and we'll take care of that asap.

What are Stardate Miniature Candles?

Stardate Miniature Candles are our 35g mini scented candles, crafted in our core 12 luxurious celestial fragrances. They’re designed for sampling or gifting, allowing you to explore the entire Stardate range or create a custom mini candle gift set of your own.

What size are the Miniature candles?

The black tin measurements are 5cm (d) x 3cm (h) (or 4cm (h) with lid) making them the perfect size to sample our incredible fragrance range and really understand if you like the scent.

How should I care for my Stardate Miniature candles?

Great question! For the best experience, trim the wick to 5mm before each burn, let the candle burn long enough to melt the wax evenly across the top (usually about an hour), and avoid burning for more than 1-2 hours at a time. This way, you’ll enjoy the full lifespan of each mini scented candle!

For the best results, with your first burn, blow out the candle once the wax melt has reached the edges and let it harden. Then do the same with each subsequent burn and it’ll likely last even longer.

First Burn: Allow the candle to burn until the entire surface is melted—typically about 1 hour. This helps prevent tunnelling.

Burn Time: Keep each burn session between 1-2 hours to extend the candle's life.

When to Discontinue Use: For safety, stop burning when about 5mm of wax remains at the bottom.

How long does each refill last?

Our refills are designed to keep your space smelling divine:

  • 50mL: 1-2 months
  • 100mL: 3+ months
  • 200mL: 6+ months

The exact duration depends on room size, airflow, and reed rotation frequency. The better you care for your diffuser, the longer it’ll last. Check out our extensive FAQ for Diffuser Care instructions.

Do I need to replace the reeds?

Yes! Each refill comes with a fresh set of reeds. Over time, reeds can get clogged with oil, so replacing them ensures your diffuser keeps spreading its magic.

Can I try a different scent with the refill?

Absolutely! Our refills are perfect for experimenting with new scents. Keep the Zodiac Birthday vibes fresh and exciting by switching it up.

How do I use the refill?

It’s super easy:

  1. Once your existing diffuser liquid has run out, twist off the shiny black cap.
  2. Simply pour the refill liquid into your existing diffuser vessel and return the cap.
  3. Untie and insert the fresh reeds.
  4. Flip the reeds weekly to keep the scent flowing.

Here’s what NOT to do:

  1. DON’T wash your original diffuser bottle. The Zodiac Birthday Labels will be sensitive to liquid and if you’d like to keep them in tip-top shape, it’s best not to allow any liquid to touch the surface (water or diffuser liquid) as it will run off any ink. 
  2. DON’T pour left over diffuser liquid down sinks, toilets or any drains. Instead, use the absorption method below if you have a some liquid left over from the original diffuser and you would like to dispose of it.

Use your best judgement here, if there’s only a small remnant of the original diffuser liquid in the bottle, it won’t be enough to contaminate the refill liquid and cause any issues with the scent (if you’re opting for 2 different fragrances).

If you do end up washing your diffuser bottle, please use warm, soapy water and ensure that it’s completely dry before you pour in the new diffuser refill liquid as it’s best not to mix it with water to ensure that there’s no separation in the liquid that could potentially causes issues with the reed absorption.

Absorption Method:

  • Materials Needed: Paper towels, cat litter, or flour.
  • Procedure: Pour the remaining diffuser liquid onto a paper towel (that’s layed onto a plate) or into a disposable container filled with cat litter or flour. Allow the diffuser liquid to be fully absorbed. Once absorbed, place the material in a sealed bag and dispose of it in your regular household trash.

Safety Precautions: Handle the diffuser liquid with care, as they can be flammable and may cause skin irritation. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling and be sure to mop up any spills as soon as possible as they may cause damage to the surfaces they come in contact with.
